The George III looks out over the Mawddach Estuary at Penmaenpool, next to the wooden toll bridge that still charges cars to cross. It’s an old waterside inn with rooms and a terrace above the water, on the walking and cycling trail that follows the old railway line. Morfa Mawddach station is about 8km down the estuary.
