Barmouth Beach is a broad two miles of sand where the Mawddach Estuary meets Cardigan Bay, backed by the town and its little harbour. Gentle shelving makes for easy swimming and paddling, with the hills of southern Eryri rising behind the estuary. The railway runs right along the front — Barmouth station is a couple of minutes from the sand.
