Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

At 289 metres Martinsell is the highest point on the Pewsey Downs, crowned by the bank and ditch of an Iron Age hillfort. From the top the view opens right across the Vale of Pewsey to Salisbury Plain. It’s open-access downland reached by footpaths, and the Mid Wilts Way runs over it. Pewsey station sits about 4km to the south-west, making it an easy walk out from the train.
