Horseshoe Falls
Local highlightApproximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
Horseshoe Falls isn’t a natural waterfall but Thomas Telford’s long curving weir on the River Dee near Llantysilio, built around 1808 to draw water into the Llangollen Canal. This is where that canal begins, running the whole way to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and part of the same World Heritage Site. Open access with a car park close by, and the horse-drawn boats from Llangollen turn around here.
