The parish church of Llangollen, St Collen’s is worth stepping into for its medieval hammerbeam roof, carved with Celtic motifs. It’s the only church in Wales dedicated to St Collen, a 6th-century monk said to have come from Glastonbury and founded the first church on the spot — the town takes its name from him. It’s a short walk from the river and Llangollen Bridge.
