John Betjeman called Clevedon Pier the most beautiful in England, and its eight slender iron spans, opened in 1869, do reach out over the Severn with unusual grace. Two spans collapsed during a stress test in 1970; a long restoration brought it back, and it’s now Grade I listed. Open to visitors for a small charge, with a café out at the pier head.
