A moated stone gatehouse from the 14th century, Boarstall Tower is all that survives of a fortified manor house that once stood behind it. The National Trust keeps it, and the arched gatehouse and its small garden open only on set days through the year — worth checking dates before making the trip out into the flat country west of Bicester.
