Wotton House’s park was reworked by Capability Brown across the 1750s and 60s, one of his most elaborate jobs on an older formal layout: two linked lakes, a pair of Tuscan temples, an Octagon pavilion and a copper-roofed Turkish Tent scattered through sweeping lawns and woodland. The house itself stays private, but the Pleasure Grounds open on Wednesday afternoons through spring and summer, plus a handful of bank holidays, with an admission kiosk and three signposted circular walks. Access is via an unobtrusive gate near Brill; Waddesdon Manor is a few miles east if you want a grander day out.
