North Kent Woods and Downs is one of eleven National Nature Reserves in Kent. Only one of the county's National Nature Reserves is larger. It lies inside the Kent Downs National Landscape.

Other nature reserves nearby include Halling to Trottiscliffe Escarpment and Jeskyns Country Park. Cuxton Station is under a kilometre away.
