Rochester is an old Medway city with a tall Norman castle keep beside a Norman cathedral, and a High Street thick with Dickens associations — he lived just up the road at Gad’s Hill and set much of Great Expectations here. There’s plenty to see on foot. Rochester station is a couple of minutes from the High Street.
