York’s oldest licensed pub, Ye Olde Starre Inne has held its licence since 1644 and hides down a narrow snickelway off Stonegate — look for its old sign strung right across the street. Timber-framed and full of small rooms, it serves ale and food a short stroll from the Minster. York Station is around 700m to the south-west.
