Guy Fawkes was born on this spot beside York Minster in 1570, and the candlelit inn now standing here takes his name. It’s an atmospheric place for a drink or a meal, with rooms if you’re staying over, right in the heart of the old city and a short walk from the Shambles. York Station is about 800m away to the south-west.
