Reached down a lane beside Entwistle station, the Strawbury Duck is an isolated stone pub ringed by the reservoirs and moor of the West Pennine Moors above Turton. It has been brought back to life as a walkers’ pub, with cask ales, food and a few rooms. Trains stop at Entwistle right beside it — an easy car-free trip out from Bolton or Blackburn.
