Ramsbottom has reinvented itself as a foodie destination, its old stone streets now full of good restaurants, delis and craft-beer bars. Heritage steam trains on the East Lancashire Railway stop right in the middle of town, and up on the moor above stands Peel Tower, a 128-foot monument to Sir Robert Peel that you can climb on open days. There’s a popular chocolate festival each spring too. Entwistle station is about 6km to the west.
