The Northumberland Arms is a smart riverside inn at West Thirston, on the Coquet across from Felton, with well-kept rooms and a kitchen worth stopping for. Felton is a pretty place to break a journey off the A1 — the Running Fox bakery has a branch here too. Acklington station is about 4km east.
