Just across the beck from Danby at Ainthorpe, the Fox and Hounds is a cheerful stone inn set up for the upper Esk Valley, with food, rooms and a garden looking out to the moor. Danby station is under a kilometre away, and it’s a fine base for the climb up to Danby Beacon.
