Down a lane in the Nadder Valley near Tisbury, the Compasses Inn is a part-thatched 14th-century inn with flagstone floors, low oak beams and an inglenook fire. It serves food and keeps a few rooms, an easy overnight in the Cranborne Chase downs. Tisbury station is about 3km to the west.
