Saved by its village and run for the community since, the George & Dragon stands above Swaledale in Hudswell with a well-kept range of local ales, a library, garden and allotments that make it as much a hub as a pub. It sits right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Walkers on the Coast to Coast pass close by to the north, and it is an easy couple of miles from the castle and cobbles of Richmond to the east.
