High on a ridge above Bradford, Undercliffe Cemetery is a Victorian cemetery on a genuinely grand scale, laid out in 1854 by a company of local wool merchants and mill owners who wanted somewhere suitably impressive to be buried. The result is a hillside of obelisks, columns and elaborate mausolea, with a terraced promenade giving wide views over the city and the hills beyond. It’s still a working cemetery, run by a local charity, and open daily to wander for free, with guided tours available by arrangement. Bradford Forster Square station is about 1km away.
