Bradford’s first public park, opened in 1853 after local mill owners including Titus Salt and Robert Milligan put up the money to buy the land. It’s a straightforward Victorian city park now — a lake, formal gardens, open grassland and sports pitches — and free to walk into at any reasonable hour. It still hosts the Bradford Mela, one of the largest Mela festivals in Europe, most summers. Bradford Forster Square station is about 1.5km away.
