Saltaire is Sir Titus Salt’s model village, built from 1851 around his huge textile mill so that workers could escape the Bradford slums. The grid of honey-stone streets and the Italianate mill have survived intact enough to make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. Salts Mill now holds a large David Hockney gallery, a bookshop and cafes. The station is right beside it.
