Thoresby is the youngest of the great Dukeries houses, a Victorian pile designed by Anthony Salvin and finished in 1871, set in parkland along the River Meden. The hall itself is now a hotel, but the stable courtyard is open to all — a gallery of changing exhibitions alongside craft workshops, shops and a café. The surrounding park is free to walk and runs into the Sherwood Forest country to the west, close to Rufford Abbey.
