Come in spring: for a few weeks from late April, Lydney Park opens a steep woodland valley planted with rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias. The estate also holds the ruins of a Roman temple to the god Nodens, set within an earlier hillfort, along with a deer park and a small museum. Lydney station is about 2.5km away.
