St Mary the Virgin, Fawsley
St Mary’s stands alone in parkland at Fawsley, its village long gone, looking out over a Capability Brown landscape of 1760s lakes toward Fawsley Hall. Inside are the alabaster tomb chests of the Knightley family, finest among them that of Sir Richard Knightley (d.1534), which still carries its original paintwork. The church is open daily, though it may shut in bad weather to keep the mud out.
