Dornoch Cathedral was founded in 1224 by Bishop Gilbert de Moravia and is now, despite the grand name, the parish church of the little town of Dornoch. Several earls and dukes of Sutherland are buried inside. It’s open to visitors, right on the square opposite the Dornoch Castle Hotel. Tain station is about 7km south.
