Westport is a six-mile run of golden Atlantic sand backed by some of Argyll’s biggest dunes, stretching north from Machrihanish up the west coast of Kintyre. The steady surf makes it one of Scotland’s better-known surfing beaches, and there’s easy access off the A83 at Westport. Plenty of room to walk even on a busy day, though the wind and rips mean it’s no place for a casual dip.
