Marsh Mill towers over Thornton on the Fylde — a five-storey tower mill built in 1794, and one of the most complete surviving windmills in the country (it’s Grade II*-listed). Restored to working order, it has a visitor centre at its foot and opens seasonally for a climb up through the machinery to the cap. Poulton-le-Fylde station is about 3km south-east.
