Sourmilk Gill pours off Base Brown in a foaming white staircase above Seathwaite, the farm at the head of Borrowdale often called the wettest inhabited spot in England — so there’s rarely any shortage of water in it. The lower cascades show up well from the valley track if you just want a look. To climb alongside it is a steep, unrelenting pull on the way to Green Gable and the high fells, not a stroll. The nearest station, Drigg, is a long drive over the passes.
