Stonethwaite is a tiny farming hamlet tucked up a side valley off Borrowdale, beside the beck of the same name. It’s a quiet spot loved by walkers, at the start of the climb over Greenup Edge to Grasmere and the way up Langstrath towards the Langdales. The Langstrath Country Inn is the one place to eat and stay, and Rosthwaite is a few minutes’ walk off.
