Known locally as the Fairy Glen, Galleny Force is less a single waterfall than a string of clear pools and small falls on the beck above Stonethwaite in Borrowdale — a much-loved wild-swimming spot. It’s an easy, level walk in along the valley, though the rocks around the pools are slick and the water stays cold whatever the month. Windermere station is a fair way off, around 20km to the south-east.
