Wortley is a small estate village on the moor edge above Sheffield, with a green, the Wortley Arms on the main street, and the old Wortley Top Forge down in the valley — a historic ironworks now run as a working museum. It’s good walking country towards the fringe of the Peak District. Silkstone Common is the nearest station, about 5km to the north.
