Langsett Reservoir sits at the edge of the Peak District’s northern moors, west of Barnsley, with a well-loved circular walk around the water and through the pines below the gritstone edges. It’s a gentle way into this wild corner of the Peak, with a car park by the visitor centre. Push on beyond the reservoir and you’re out onto open moorland; Penistone station is about 5km to the north-east.
