In the estate village of Wentworth, the old Holy Trinity Church stands as a part-ruin, its 12th-century origins left behind when the 6th Earl Fitzwilliam commissioned a grand new church nearby. That replacement, designed by J. L. Pearson and consecrated in 1877, took over the parish, and the older building was kept as a preserved shell in its churchyard. The grounds are open access. Elsecar station is a couple of kilometres to the north.
