Nether Wallop is a thatched village along the Wallop Brook, west of Stockbridge. Its church, St Andrew’s, holds a rare Anglo-Saxon wall painting of an angel from around 1020, the only such survival in situ in England. The village stood in as ‘St Mary Mead’ for the BBC Miss Marple series with Joan Hickson. Grateley station is about 6km to the north-west.
