A bird-of-prey centre near Andover with daily flying displays, from tiny owls to eagles and vultures wheeling over the fields
Set across 22 acres of woodland and meadow near Andover, the Hawk Conservancy Trust keeps and flies birds of prey — owls, falcons, hawks, eagles and vultures among them. The draw is the flying displays, run several times a day through the season, when the birds sweep low over the crowd and out across the surrounding fields. It’s a working conservation charity as well as a day out, breeding threatened species and nursing injured wild birds back towards release. Entry is ticketed. The centre is on the edge of the North Wessex Downs, and the Iron Age hillfort at Danebury is a few miles south if you want to make more of the day.
