Chilbolton is a thatched village strung between the River Test and a wide common, with water meadows on its doorstep. Just outside sits Chilbolton Observatory, whose huge steerable radar dish is a landmark for miles. The common is open to walk; the observatory is a working research site, not generally open. Andover station is about 7km to the north-west.
