Navenby sits high on the Lincoln Edge, the limestone ridge that runs south from the city, with long views west over the Trent vale. Its best-known corner is Mrs Smith’s Cottage, a modest Victorian home kept as a small museum after its last occupant lived there into old age with little modern comfort. The next village along the ridge is Wellingore. Metheringham station is about 10km east across the fen.
