Come at low water and you can walk the cobbled causeway from Marazion out to St Michael’s Mount, the tidal island with its castle and gardens; at high tide a short boat runs across instead. Marazion itself is an old market town on Mount’s Bay, with a long beach popular for windsurfing and a reedy marsh behind it good for birds. Penzance station is about 4km west.
