Luss is the famous conservation village on Loch Lomond’s west shore, a neat run of estate cottages built along Pier Road in the mid-1800s. Christianity is said to have reached here with St Kessog in the 6th century, and the churchyard keeps some early medieval stones. It stood in as “Glendarroch” in the long-running soap Take the High Road. Be warned it gets very busy - there’s a pay car park that fills fast in season. Helensburgh Upper station is about 11km away.
