Kirkcaldy is the largest town on the Fife coast, its long seafront esplanade earning it the old nickname the Lang Toun. The economist Adam Smith, author of The Wealth of Nations, was born here in 1723, and the town’s galleries are well worth a look. The station sits right in the centre, on the main line north.
