Step inside Kippen Parish Church for a fine collection of 20th-century church art. Reginald Fairlie redesigned it in the mid-1920s, with work by the sculptor Sir Alfred Gilbert and 15 windows by Herbert Hendrie. The painter Sir D. Y. Cameron, who lived in the village, was its patron and painted some of the ceilings and furniture himself. It’s open at weekends; on weekdays the key is kept locally. In 1891 Duncan Buchanan started a vinery here, and one of its vines grew to be the world’s largest before the vinery closed in 1964. North of the village, on the flat Carse of Forth, Flanders Moss is one of the largest near-natural raised bogs, or domed peat bogs, in Europe.
