Kinloch Rannoch sits at the eastern end of Loch Rannoch, a small, remote village with a neat square and the River Tummel running through. The shapely cone of Schiehallion rises to the south, one of the more popular Munros to climb. West of the loch the road runs out towards the emptiness of Rannoch Moor. It’s deep in the hills — the nearest station, Blair Atholl, is over 20km east.
