Hythe is a small Cinque Port town under the Downs, and the seaward terminus of the miniature Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway. Its church, St Leonard’s, has a crypt stacked with medieval skulls and bones that you can go down and see. Sandling station is about 2.5km north-west.
