Hunstanton is the one resort on England’s east coast that faces west, which gives it sunsets over the Wash that no other North Sea town gets. Below the green, the cliffs rise in bands of white chalk, red chalk and rusty carrstone, a layered face that draws geologists and fossil-hunters. The Victorian town above was laid out as a planned seaside resort in the mid-nineteenth century.
