Aberdulais sits where the Dulais joins the Neath, around a waterfall that has driven industry since 1584 — copper smelting first, later a tinplate works, both now cared for by the National Trust. A large steel waterwheel still turns on the site, generating power from the falls. Neath station is about 2.5km to the south-west.
