Whiteleaf Cross
Local highlightA chalk cross on a broad triangular base, cut into Whiteleaf Hill above Princes Risborough.
The Whiteleaf cross stands on a wide triangular foot, cut into the steep face of Whiteleaf Hill. Its age and purpose are unknown; it was recorded by the eighteenth century and may be older, and a Neolithic burial mound sits on the hilltop just above. The Ridgeway crosses the hill over the top, on the Chilterns scarp a few miles from the Watlington white mark along the same hills.
