Ray Mill Island is a small public park on the Thames at Maidenhead, reached by a footbridge beside Boulter’s Lock. The Thames Conservancy bought it in 1909 to expand the lock, and it’s now laid out with riverside gardens, an aviary and a café. It’s free to wander, and a good spot to sit and watch the boats work through. Taplow station is about 1.5km to the south-east.
