The Lavender Line runs from Isfield station, a tidy Victorian country station on part of the old Lewes to Uckfield railway that British Rail closed in the 1960s. Volunteers took it on and brought back the platform, the signal box and a short run of track, and they work steam and diesel trains up and down it on running days. The name comes not from the flower but from A. E. Lavender, the coal merchants who once had the yard here. There is a signal box you can look round, a model railway, and a station buffet, and it makes an easy stop while you are around Isfield. Entry is ticketed.
