For the best view over Stromness, walk up Brinkie’s Brae, the low hill immediately behind the town. From the top the grey-flagstone houses are laid out below, with Scapa Flow on one side and the hills of Hoy across the water on the other. A path climbs up from the town, and it’s a short pull for a big reward.
