A Roman marching camp once stood here — today it survives as earthworks in Northumberland. It is one of 30 Roman marching camps the Albion Guide maps in the county. For more of the same, Vindolanda and Winshields, Hadrian's Wall are close by. Bardon Mill Station is 2.7 km away to the south-east.
